SEGA preparing Natal demos for E3

Developers have had some time with their Natal and Move development kits by now, with the larger studios having a bit of an edge. In fact, SEGA West’s Mike Hayes says their Eastern counterparts have been working with Natal long enough to have produced some impressive prototypes. Apparently we can expect to see the goods soon.

“We asked our Japanese studio to create something for [Natal] which we’ll show off at E3. They had a brilliant prototype up and running within six weeks. I mean a genuinely entertaining prototype you could just play… I think Natal and the Sony Motion Controller allow us to do things that are more about multi, party gaming. In a way, it’s a move away potentially from the core. That’s what we’re actually getting good at.”

Yeah, it seems everyone‘s getting good at those types of games these days. Hayes followed these statements suggesting that the future of games will resemble titles like Mario & Sonic for its small learning curve and mass appeal. I guess that’s better than farms and mafias on my phone.
