Warner Bros. Interactive has just given a sea of J.R.R Tolkien fans massive heart failure with the announcement that a new Lord of the Rings game is in the works. Lord of the Rings: War in the North will be an action co-op RPG title, set for release next year across PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.
The game will not be influenced by any of the recent cinematic storytelling efforts but rather from Tolkien’s novels. Under development by Snowblind Studios, the title promises to “explore both original and familiar narrative elements.”
“This game is a natural evolution of the acclaimed RPG gameplay that Snowblind has consistently delivered over the past years. Players and fans will experience an innovative approach to online co-op gameplay, woven throughout every facet of the game in a way that only Snowblind can deliver.”
