The Genesis games, SatAM cartoon, and Archie comics are what made me the huge Sonic fan that I am today, despite the roller coaster that the series has turned into in recent years. I actually might not have stuck with series, if it were up to my first ever experience with a Sonic game. There’s a mine cart near the beginning of Sonic 2 for the Game Gear that you need to ride off a cliff and leap out of before falling into lava. I was 6-years-old when the game was new, and for some reason the timing was ridiculously hard for me to get. As a kid, I think I only succeeded once, and it frustrated me to no end.

I literally got a chill down my spine reading that mine carts may once again be in Sonic’s future. A supposed leak image from the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4 reveals the inclusion of an act where you tilt the screen in order to adjust the incline and speed up or slow down Sonic’s cart. Now sure, you’re all upset that this back-to-basics game has screen tilting while I’m obsessing over the use of mine carts. Well I’m sorry, but that’s just how I feel!
