Leaked motherboard rumored to be slimmer Xbox 360

Haven’t bought enough Xbox 360s yet? There’s a chance Microsoft could be looking to release a significantly more space efficient model of their console in the relatively near future. The innards you see above are reportedly from this slimmed down version, if a Chinese forum is to be believed. Now, before we shoot this rumor down right away, it’s been noted that this model appears to use Intel’s new 32nm combo CPU/GPU chips, resulting in less power consumption and less heat. Sounds like a big plus for the 360, huh?

Nevertheless, it’s still a rumor. The source claims that Microsoft has recently finished testing of the revamped 360s in China, so if this rumor holds a candle, we’ll find out about it in the coming months. I’m slightly disappointed, though… I’d always hoped a 360 redesign would actually resemble more of a circle.

Well, just because there are pictures surfacing now doesn’t mean that a launch of a new, slimmed down console is imminent. It often takes months of testing before new devices are introduced into the market after a big design change. Dude, don't get too excited yet! :P
