Just Cause 2 demo reaches 2 million

Apparently people really do love to blow things up, especially when it’s free. The demo for the Avalanche and Eidos title Just Cause 2 received well over 2 million downloads, according to a Square Enix press release. What’s more amazing is that the demo went live on March 4th, less than two weeks ago.

The game follows agent Rico Rodriguez on a tropical mission to take down his former boss Tom Sheldon, who’s taken millions from the Agency. The open sandbox title allows gamers to do pretty much anything they want across the island of Panau. While playing the demo, I spent my time on the beach, grappling up a mountain, hijacking a motorcycle, shooting the pilot of a helicopter, and in turn stealing that helicopter, then crashing that helicopter, and parachuting to safety. That was within a period of about 5 minutes.

The full retail version of Just Cause 2 will launch March 23 in North America and March 26 abroad.
