The PlayStation Network’s video section has been a great hub for downloading movies for rental and for purchase. Although standard definition films were available to rent and to buy, HD movies were previously only available as rentals. Sony has finally changed that model, a new feature which started Tuesday.
Downloadable full HD movies will range in price from $17.99 for older films and $19.99 for new releases. According to IT World’s Peter Smith, who noticed the new HD purchase option, file sizes currently range from 4GB to upwards of 7GB. No wonder the purchase option took so long for high definition content, as early PS3 models could barely hold a few films of that size.
Are you likely to purchase your HD video content via PSN, if it means losing some precious hard drive space?
