Sony’s PS3 Motion Controller gets a name, new trailer

Finally, Sony’s motion controller has a name. During their GDC kickoff presentation, Sony officially announced the “PlayStation Move.” The controller is actually a two part device, similar to the Wii’s current Wii Remote and Nunchuk setup. There’s the wand like controller that you’ve previously seen, and the new optional Nunchuk-like directional controller called the “PlayStation Move Sub Controller.” Nice name. The two controllers are not connected via cord.

Sports Champions is a new title for PS3, that utilizes the PS Move. (It’s incredible how much this press conference is similar to Nintendo’s 2005 E3. Boy, they must be flattered) Additional titles were shown, including a new fighting title and SOCOM 4. Sony also showed how to use the device with already released titles such as LittleBigPlanet.

The PS Move, PS Eye and a game will be available this fall bundled at less than $100. Rumor has it, the name “Arc” was ditched due to a trademark dispute. Take a look at the PS Move in action below.
