Global PS3 error causes network, game failure

Sony has been dealing with quite an annoying issue over the past few hours. PlayStation 3 owners started noticing something was wrong when a PlayStation Network error popped up when trying to connect online. However, the error is also affecting non- online centric games as well.

Many gamers will older PS3 models are noticing issues with logging into their PSN accounts. No matter what the issue is, Sony may be in the dark as well, offering a eerily calm “looking into it” response. Hopefully things will be up and running in no time.

UPDATE: The issue has now been fixed, as confirmed by Sony.

    I havn't had my PS3 online in the last week, it worked fine last night and now it won't work at all, I tried quick format, restore default settings and I even tried total restore. And it is still giving me the same 8001050F trophy information error. I don't understand why it is messed up

    its to do with the date , all old ps3 were reset to 1 1 2000 today , check your date if you cant play

    My PS3 works just fine, I'm playing MW2 right now. PSN is working normally here in Southern California

    This is effin annoying. I could care less of the PSN is down. Why then the console won't let me play any of the game offline? I am not keen on online play anyway.

    This is crazy alot of people are saying the issue will require and system mail back for repair with a 150$ fee and if sony does that its obsurd this is sony's problem none of ours fix it at your cost not ours we have already spent hundreds on this system you deal with it

    This thing is terrible it deletes the trophies of any games you try to play.

    mine hasnt had any problems. I live in a college dorm and I am the only one with a ps3 that is able to connect online. To me it sounds like a bad hacker sending viruses. hopefully sony can fix this soon

    i tried to play heavy rain & wont let me in. thought sumthing wasnt rite now the game has been deleted off the consoll =( devo...silly me

    i watched a movie then try to play mw2 and it says you been signed out
