Looks like the excitement surrounding one of this year’s most secretive titles got the best of a lucky videographer. Footage of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 was released today, likely against the wishes of SEGA of course. The footage shows Sonic in stage one, titled Splash Hill Zone. From what you can see, the level is very similar to Green Hill Zone, but unfortunately cuts off after about a minute of gameplay. Aside from the graphical upgrades, the level seems a bit tame and all too familiar.
Also shown in the video are both the game opening and menu options, including the different courses available. Episode 1 will contain four courses, which will include Splash Hill Zone, Lost Labyrinth Zone, Casino Street Zone and Mad Gear Zone. The latter three seem more inventive, and a departure from traditional Sonic levels. Additionally, the main menu screen shows a collection grid that will house all 7 of the game’s Chaos Emeralds.
Let’s hope more footage leaks in the coming weeks.
