PC version of Alan Wake officially cancelled

It has finally been confirmed that there will be no PC version of Alan Wake. According to a statement made by a Microsoft rep to Strategy Informer:

“Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive.”

This is the only confirmation after rumors surfaced in July indicating that Microsoft was reshifting their focus on Alan Wake‘s availability and dropping the PC version.

Hilariously enough, I’m writing this article on one of those “intimate” PCs…hooked up to a 51″ HDTV that I’m sitting about a foot and a half from, with a keyboard and mouse propped on a discarded foot stool (which I do solely for the purpose of gaming). How’s that for intimacy?
