Suda 51 wants No More Heroes 3 on Wii’s successor

There’s been a bit of back and forth from Grasshopper CEO Goichi Suda on whether or not the No More Heroes franchise would continue, and where it would continue. With a re-vamped version of the original title headed to Xbox 360 and PS3 in Japan, many wondered if Nintendo was losing their grasp on the exclusive series.

In a new interview with Game Informer, Suda 51 claims that the franchise was built for Nintendo, and that’s where he wants it to stay.

If there is a chance to continue No More Heroes, I am interested in making NMH3. I personally think that NMH is a game for Wii, so I would be very happy if I could make a game for the Wii’s successor, whenever that might be. I was not involved in the production of the 360 version of NMH1, so I don’t know anything about that.

Suda also commented on the game’s main character, Travis Touchdown. Despite being a bit of a raunchy guy, Travis does have some redeeming qualities.

I also want players to feel like Travis is accessible to everyone. I want them to relate to him. I also want them to see that while Travis gets rest in the bathroom and makes money by doing side jobs, he is a hero in the end.

It’ll be a few more weeks before we really know if No More Heroes 2 sold well on the Wii. Until then, it’s nice to know that the series will likely continue on a Nintendo platform, considering the Big N doesn’t have that many well crafted exclusive mature titles.
