The next generation is on the way! Junichi Masuda come on to this week’s episode of Pokémon Sunday to provide fans with the very first silhouette of a brand new Pokémon from the upcoming fifth generation of games. As fans know, new generation Pokémon typically appear in the movies and/or anime before the new games come out, and Masuda confirmed that the Pokémon shown will be the “Z” in the next movie (the title of which roughly translates to Phantom Ruler Z), starring alongside Celebi and the legendary beast trio.

The mystery Pokémon won’t be revealed in full on TV until the February 21st episode showing of Pokémon Sunday, though the upcoming issue of CoroCoro magazine could prove to be an informative asset. Meanwhile, we can speculate on what this Pokémon is. Is it an evolution of an existing Pokémon, such as Sandslash or Lucario? Or is it a completely new one? It certainly looks to be of a fighting type…
