Iwata comments on iPad, 3D and Wii HD
Who better then Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, who knows a thing or two about success in the industry, to comment on some new trends and devices. Audiences seem to be split on the revelation of the long rumored Apple tablet device, the iPad. While some applaud the innovation, others doubt its purpose, and see the omission of iSight and Flash to be huge setbacks. Iwata thinks the device is what it is and nothing more. “It was a bigger iPod Touch…there were no surprises for me,” said Iwata.
3D seems to be a once again emerging entertainment enhancement device, but does it have a place in gaming? “I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home,” Iwata noted. “How is that going to look to other people?” Well, I’d imagine it would look as ridiculous as playing a Natal game (zing!).
Lastly, the countless rumors of a Wii HD device have been floating around for the past year or so. However, Nintendo is still assuring gamers that if they do head to high definition graphics, that won’t be the only innovation the console will bring. “I question whether those features would be enough to get people to buy new machines,” Iwata shared. So what “features” will you be bringing? I have a feeling we’ll get a first glimpse of Iwata’s latest hardware creation within the next year or two.
