Q Entertainment launched Q?pid for the iPhone/iPod Touch today, billing it as a social, cooperative puzzle game. The basic premise is that you and “someone you like, or someone you want to like” each have a gesture to perform on the screen, at the same time. It appears that the typical scenario is that the two gestures begin and subsequently end opposite each other, thus making the experience an tricky, intimate, finger-tangling problem. Upon reaching the end of your gestures, you each hold your finger (à la holding a pose in Twister, I suppose) for several seconds to unblur a background image. Finally, you’re given a ‘compatibility rating’ based on how well you’re able to pull off any given stage. It sounds a little bit gimmicky, and a little bit awesome, and comes with 5 difficulty levels, a timed mode, and the ability to customize the images, background music, and messages used in game. Available now for $1.99 on the App Store.

Tokyo – January 12, 2010 – Q Entertainment Inc. today unveiled Q?pid, its social puzzle game now available from the App Store. Q?pid is a cooperative puzzle game that will be a social ice-breaker, if not a romantic fire starter, for iPhone and iPod touch users.
Each finger puzzle involves two players, who must touch the innovative Multi-Touch user interface to move their markers in a single gesture and reveal a mystery photo. The puzzles get progressively more difficult as the number of markers increase, so players must use cooperation and digital dexterity in order to clear each new photo. In Edit Mode, players can enter personalized messages, photos or pictures, and also add music from their iTunes library to Q?pid.
“The Q?pid App is not only a cute and fun game for iPhone and iPod touch, but also a social experiment,” said Shiji Utsumi, president, Q Entertainment. “We can’t wait to hear stories of romance and flirtation facilitated by our delightful and original app.”
The Q?pid App is available for $1.99 from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch or at www.itunes.com/appstore.
