Reggie Fils-Aime: Zelda for Wii will be released when its “perfect”

LOZ

Looks like Nintendo is taking some extra time for quality assurance purposes. Heh, do you like that phrase? I so ripped it off the last customer service menu I had to sit through. Anyway, as we Zelda fans are feeling anxious about the next title (now a whopping five years into production), president of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime assures us that the new title will be released “when its perfect”:

“Right now, it’s still in development, but the key message that Mr. Miyamoto and Mr. Aonuma are telling us is that it really has to be perfect when it launches — that really is what the Zelda fan is expecting. So for all the Zelda fans out there right now, what I would say is, enjoy Spirit Tracks, and know that the Zelda title for Wii is going to come out when it’s perfect.”

So, first it was not 2010, then it was 2010, now “when its perfect”. This back and forth on the Zelda release date is giving me whiplash. Anyone else feeling release date fatigue?

This is nothing new. Zelda has always been a “It will be done when its done” kind of franchise. I won’t believe any release dates until like a month before the game is set to launch.

Us Blizzard fans are pretty used to that, too.
