Blockbuster ad uses fake New Super Mario Bros. Wii boxart

Picture 1

Toys R Us was guilty of it when they used a fan made Mario Kart Wii boxart on their website for a few months time.  Now Blockbuster is next in line, using a fan made boxart taken from VGBoxArt.  The game of choice? New Super Mario Bros. Wii, one of the highest selling titles of the past few months.  Although the fan cover is impressive, it looks much different than that of the original, something that I’m amazed the photoshopper didn’t realize when compiling the images.

It’s incredible to me that these companies can get away with not double checking.  Google is just a click away for a quick visual reference check. Shame on you! The fan made boxart can be seen in full in the link below.

A few months ago I got a Blockbuster flyer in the mail that claimed Mario & Sonic Winter Olympics was also available for the PS3.

Haha! Errors like these are funny, but pretty sad. Poor Blockbuster.

I’m more surprised by the fact that Blockbuster still exists.

It’s not that Blockbuster sucks, but they’re stupid. They’re one of the competitors here in Canada, with the other competitor being the largest Phone/TV/Internet provider in our country. It’s just that they are too stupid to check these things out. I’m sure that there are employees that could have told them it’s a Nintendo exclusive or that the box art is wrong, especially since the box is red, but they really don’t care at this point. I’m sure that renting is becoming a dead art form and with Rogers as competition, they can’t flourish like they used to (cause when I was little, they were huge).
