Despite claims by Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma to “hope” to have something ready to show during E3 2010, a Japanese newspaper has confirmed that the next Zelda Wii title will actually see a 2010 release. The confirmation comes after Nintendo president Satoru Iwata spoke with newspaper Asashi Shimbun about the company’s plans.
Iwata acknowledged that the sales of Wii have gone down, but stressed the importance of quality software titles, many of which coming from Nintendo are now confirmed for 2010.
The newspaper also claims that the Wii’s Vitality Sensor controller will be discussed in depth during a July press conference, and will go on sale as soon as possible. That could be a good thing to give it its own press conference, leaving E3 ’10 for big software announcements and showings.
UPDATE: According to Gamespot, Zelda will be arriving on the Wii this October.
