The advancements from DS to DS have been welcome changes for sure, but the gameplay has remained largely the same through each upgrade. However Nintendo’s next handheld will offer two big changes, confirmed by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata in an interview with Japanese newspaper Asashi Shimbun.
Apparently, the next handheld will have “highly detailed graphics, and it will be necessary to have a sensor with the ability to read the movements of people playing,” according to Iwata, in a quote translated by Kotaku. So is this almost like a portable Wii? It is interesting wording that the handheld will read the movements of the player, instead of saying that it will have an accelorometer and will read its own movements when being held, ala iPhone or the Wii Remote. It’s definitely a wild and welcomed concept to consider.
With the motion capabilities and improved graphics, it looks like Nintendo’s got themselves another guaranteed big seller in the works.
