Facebook user Donte Larry has a love for Pokemon. In fact, his love is so strong, he’s established a Facebook event that encourages users to change their profile pictures to their favorite Pokemon. From Pikachu to Snorlax, users have been swapping their generic red-cup-in-hand frat house photos for their beloved cartoon companions. Actually, over 271,000 Facebook members have joined the event.

You may be wondering how such an event came to be. “The Pokemon theme song popped into my head randomly,” said Donte Larry.  ”It started bringing back good memories, so I decided to change my profile pic just for fun. And then I though ‘I wonder how many other people would change their profile pics too.’ And so the event was born.”

Other groups have spawned from the event, including one by member Craig Fischer who declared December as National “Make Your Profile Picture a Pokemon” Month. “The event was to just change your profile picture to a Pokemon,” said Fischer. “I decided to make it a month long event; this way we could do it every year.” I guess he was on to something, as his group has over 31,000 members.

With just a few days left in the month, what better way to get into the holiday spirit then to upload your favorite Pokemon image. Who will you choose?
