Since the family starred in one of the best arcade titles of all time, it’s astounding why The Simpsons haven’t returned to the format. That is, until now. Coming to your iPhone/iPod Touch is The Simpsons Arcade. The game, which is much inspired by the original arcade title that exploded in arcades during the early 90s, centers around Homer just trying to get a delicious doughnut. He later finds out that his precious fried dessert is actually “the key to a devious scheme hatched by sinister Springfield forces,” according to the press release.
The game utilizes the touch screen controls to make Homer belly flop, attack and throw objects. Just like the original arcade game, you’ll be able to summon Bart, Lisa, Marge and Maggie for help, after activating “Family Frenzy” power-ups. The game will take you through 6 different environments, and you’ll even be able to listen to your own tunes during the game. We can only hope EA brings this title to consoles as well.
The Simpsons Arcade will be available this month.
