Well this is probably making Michael Patcher pretty happy right now, as he’s predicted a Wii 2 to be announced soon. Apparently, Nintendo has trademarked the name “Zii.” It doesn’t say what the trademark is to be used for so don’t think you’ll find out any time before an official press release/ convention.
It is interesting though that the name is, sorta, in keeping with Nintendo’s best selling console. Zii is actually a bit cooler. Maybe a bit hardcore? Crap, now I’m getting excited.
Zii is also the name of a handheld device by Creative. It is possible that Nintendo has future plans for the name, but wanted the rights to the name immediately. Either that Zii is a collection of zoo based party games. What do you think?
UPDATE: Well it looks like Nintendo is really planning a mass release of “ii” products, or they’re just contemplating their options. Nintendo has also trademarked “Cii” “Yii” “Oii” and “Bii.”
I guess Oii is the new Jewish-only console. Get it?
