If you’re looking for a fast track to picking out the best apps on iTunes, well consider this list, just released through iTunes Rewind (which Apple uses to showcase the top selling music and other media sold through iTunes):

Top selling apps:

  • The Oregon Trail
  • Need For Speed: Underground
  • Madden NFL 10
  • Tiger Woods PGA Tour
  • Assassins Creed
  • Flight Control
  • Cooking Mama
  • Civilization Revolution
  • Wheel Of Fortune

Granted, while sales and user ratings don’t always indicate quality (just look at Britney Spears’ last album), this as close as you’re gonna get to figuring out what’s “best” in the App Store. I myself just got an iPod Touch and am now eyeballing The Sims 3, Cooking Mama, Assassin’s Creed, Oregon Trail, and Doom Classic.

Any good Apps you missed this year?

  • Thank you for the heads up, I was considering a purchase but it did occur to me that hell, if PS2 can't do a Sims game very well then ffs of course iPhone isn't going to. And call me picky but I really resent gaming without any buttons.

Sims 3 Portable it should be called. It's not even close to a full version, the iTouch/iPhone doesn't have close to the requirements nor the space for a full version. I dislike it a lot.
