Rumor: Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka quits

Akira_Yamaoka

I think it goes without saying that the music of Silent Hill is undeniably a large part of the experience itself. In a game meant to thrill and titillate its players, atmosphere can be everything. So if this rumor is true, then Silent Hill has arguably lost one of its most valuable assets to the entire franchise: series composer Akira Yamaoka. A source told Aeropause’s Vikki Blake that not only has Yamaoka left Konami after 16 years of employment, but he’s currently on hiatus, on a no doubt well deserved vacation in Europe. No details have surfaced as to why Yamaoka has left the company, though at this point the rumors have not been confirmed by Konami. We’ll update you here should they release a statement.
