It’s taken three years, but Wii supplies are meeting demand, and the Wii is about to surpass the NES as Nintendo’s best-selling home console. But what about those worried that interest in the Wii is slipping, when Sony’s own PS3 topped Nintendo’s console in US sales back in September?

Luckily for Nintendo, the price drop from $249 to $199 seemed to do the trick…for now. Nintendo’s Cammie Dunaway let loose the tidbit that sales have increased by 85% on a week-by-week basis since the price slash.

“I think going into the holidays, the Wii is in a very good position. It has an unbeatable combination of games, experience and unbeatable value, and that continues to put it to the top of people’s wish list.”

Think Nintendo can save Christmas?
