Microsoft recently updated their Xbox 360 with Facebook functionality, allowing those who game to also check in and stalk their friends and non-friends.  Well since then, the company has released figures that prove the social networking initiative to be quite a success.  More than 2 million people logged into Facebook via their Xbox 360 consoles in the first week of the service.  Additionally, 500,000 accounts were created during that first day alone.

Although not everyone’s cup of tea, you have to applaud gaming companies for trying to bring a more social atmosphere to a gamer’s world.  There aren’t many other mediums where you could be content sitting alone in a room for 8 hours straight. Maybe its good that gaming companies are trying to intervene, and keep you tied to society.
