New York, you may want to rethink this. I’ve been on XBOX Live. I’ve played Halo with the users there. Trust me, most of them aren’t worth saving. (I’m talking to you, slutbanger69).
Just kidding.
Anyway, you read that right, New York State is opting to use a new alert system through XBOX Live. A report from Information Week says that they are currently testing a process that will send messages to users in the event of a disaster. New York State Deputy CIO Rico Singleton, the article’s source of information, said the move is being made in light of the amount of young people who spend more time on their consoles than watching TV or listening to radio.
Again, the system is only being tested at the moment, but given the validity of the hours spent on consoles versus other forms of entertainment, it kind of makes sense. However I’ve heard (ok, read) a lot of complaints about having to give up a Gamertag “to the man”.
What do you think? Invasive? Or helpful?
