God Of War Collection now available on PS3

Around the time the God of War III was announced, the question arose: will Sony re-release the original God Of War titles, maybe with some sort of upgrade? Discussion only further heated up with the addition of the God Of War III Ultimate Edition, with fans disappointed that GOW 1 and 2 were not a part of the package.

Well I’m pleased to announce that after much speculation and a delayed release day, the God Of War Collection is out now for PS3. Both God of War and God of War II have been given a healthy dose of HD boost and are available together on one Blu-ray disc. A demo of God Of War III is also said to be included. At $39.99, it sounds like a great deal for both new and old fans alike. I might have to pick this one up myself, round out the ole PS3 library.

In other God of War news, there was a rumor floating around earlier via Gamer Access that claimed that God of War III would have an online co-op mode. Despite their seemingly legit source (Sony’s Retail Loyalty site) and a provided screenshot, it seems the rumors are false, as Sony told IGN:

“This news is unfounded. God of War III will not have an online co-op mode.”

And there you have it. A dream crushed. But as IGN points out, that doesn’t mean there won’t be an online versus mode, which could be equally fun. I’m all for it. Kratos doesn’t play well with others, anyway!
