Sega Zippos light a fire in me

segazippos

So here’s something awesome – Zippos that have been molded and painted to resemble two classic Sega consoles (how’s that for multiplatform?). The MegaDrive and the Saturn have both been recreated in fire-making form, with the MegaDrive being my choice for ‘most awesome thing I’ve seen all day,’ likely because it fills up the whole face of the lighter, and because the Japanese MegaDrive looked quite similar to the American Genesis. The Saturn, on the other hand, has to make use of an awkwardly placed logo and controller to fit the lighter’s form properly. Also, being an American, the Saturn I know and love is black all over rather than silver and blue!

These sweet slices of flaming nostalgia are available in Japan for ¥10,500 – about $115. Anyone who wants to pick me up a MegaDrive gets free hugs!

  • Yeah I can see where you're coming from on that, seems an odd choice but maybe they were trying to be edgy and obscure. I for one would love a Zippo that looks like an arcade machine, if that's possible.
  • Kind of odd that they just plucked out two… MegaDrive/Genesis, I can see, everyone loves that system. Personally, I love Saturn, but I think I'm in the minority. But what about the SMS? It was no NES, but still had its moments… Or the Dreamcast? A VMU would look much swanker on the lid-part than the first-gen Saturn controller does…

On that note, I'd really, truly love one in an Atari 2600 Jr. I have every American-released revision of the 2600 (and the Sears counterparts), but the Jr. will always be my favorite console. Warm and fuzzy nostalgia time!
  • Oh my now that is slick! Sega was my first console, so I just love this.

Everyone should have at least one nice Zippo.
