Capcom’s MT Framework engine coming to the Wii
Yesterday’s Nikkei Report has made the statement that Capcom plans to bring their MT Framework engine to the Wii in order to increase development efficiency. The MT Framework engine was previously used on some of Capcom’s high-profile games, and its porting to the Wii essentially means that Capcom is hoping to bring their future games to all three major platforms without as much of a hassle or cost. In fact, by bringing the engine over, it will supposedly save 1/5th of the development costs and 1/3rd of the time compared to Capcom developing for the platforms separately.
What’s the significance? Well, it just so happens that MT Framework was the engine behind games such as Lost Planet 2 and Resident Evil 5. Get ready folks, they’ve just reopened up the can of worms for fans wanting a Resident Evil 5: Wii Edition. Weren’t they working on a motion-controlled version *cough*AlternativeEdition*cough* anyway? Might as well get a bang for their buck…
