Confirmed: Netflix for PS3 will support HD streaming
As I was writing the earlier report that Netflix would begin offering streaming movies to the PS3, one question kept hovering in my mind – would those streaming movies be in high definition? Finally, we have an answer: Heck yes!
Steve Swasey, Netflix’s VP of Corporate Communications, confirmed that the new service will definitely be capable of streaming movies in HD. Better yet, the entire Netflix catalog of streaming movies – all of which are currently accessible via PC and the Xbox 360 – will be available with the PlayStation service.
On a side note, while the Netflix streaming disc will ship once they’re available in November, I’m sure many of you are wondering why you’ll have to use a disc in the first place. According to Swasey, an embedded solution would eventually make its way out at some point, but this is the route they have to go with at this point in time.
