Yesterday, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto gave a keynote address at the Digital Contents Expo in Tokyo, Japan. Unfortunately, nothing relevant to Nintendo’s future was revealed (nor was anything really going to be…), but some interesting little trivia facts were given during the speech.
Did you know that Nintendo didn’t like the concepts behind the original Legend of Zelda – an action game with RPG elements, and its free-roaming world that would confuse fans as to where to go next? Next time you play a Kirby game, know that you could have almost been playing a Tinkle Popo game. Oh, and apparently Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe hated potentially naming the new console “Wii” because it sounded like a slang word for urine. Who would’ve thought?
