Reuters announced that Nickelodeon has taken over the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. Currently, the company has a new series in the works for a 2012 release. Also in the pipeline is the much talked about half CGi/ half live action movie, which has already begun casting. Plans for that project are still moving forward, however it’s unknown what changes Nickelodeon plans to make.
Also unknown is the company’s role with the future of Turtles video games. Over the last decade, Turtles games have been pretty middle of the road, based on review scores alone. Nickelodeon has announced that they plan on releasing all projects as planned, including the DS title TMNT: Arcade Attack.
After that, we can only hope the future Turtles video games get the full Nickelodeon treatment. After all, they sure know their cartoons.
