Maiming video games is cool: portable NES cartridge system

I’m not too clear on the finer points of console modding (so far as I can tell it involves destroying classic consoles and cartridges for your own amusement. Abuse!) but this is impressive nonetheless. Another would-be Ben Heck has delicately ripped out the guts of an NES cartridge and shoved the necessary components (in this case, a Chinese-made media player) in to create a new yet retro portable gaming experience. Its very “now-tro”, if you will.

3 game cases and 2 controllers were maimed in the making of this veritable Nintendo Frankenstein, so its up for sale to recoup the losses. Hit the jump for a picture of its innards.
