Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime talks price cut, DSi sales and Holiday season

ReggieFilsAime

Reggie Fils-Aime was a guest on CNBC to talk about Nintendo’s recent Wii price cut, and their position going into the holiday season.  Fils-Aime said the company is expecting a big holiday season for both the Wii and DS, with titles like Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros. Wii.  DSi sales are at a whopping 2.2 million, even though as he states consumers are “hesitant to spend” in this economy.

Incorrectly, the CNBC anchor Maria Bartiromo said the Wii cut its price to $299.  Oops.  She also asked if Nintendo will need to cut prices again in order to stimulate sales. Yes, because Wii sales are so sluggish, two price cuts are immediately necessary (note sarcasm).
