Game Developer Research has unleashed their 2009 Top 20 Publishers report, an annual ranking of video game publishers based on surveys, revenue, releases, and reviews. For the third year in a row, Nintendo came out on the top of the list, giving bragging rights to all the fanboys out there who are so inclined. As for the other hardware-manufacturers-who-also-publish-games, Sony came in sixth place, and Microsoft tenth. If anything, this probably just solidifies something many Nintendo gamers already know – when it comes to Nintendo’s platforms, first-party titles are where it’s at. Mario Kart, Mario Party, (Super) Mario (Brothers/World/Whatever) – it’s the Nintendo Trifecta.
