New Super Mario Bros. Wii’s Super Guide, Hammer Yoshi and other features
Since the announcement of New Super Mario Bros. Wii at E3, gamers have been begging for more information about the latest Mario installment. Well, some more details have been revealed, hopefully long enough to hold you over until the game’s November 15th release.
- As expected, the game will feature 8 levels and follow the familiar storyline of Bowser kidnaps Peach, Mario & gang rescue Peach. A great new feature for a Mario game is that you can now throw your friends and weapons by pressing 1 button and shaking the Wii remote. This can help them get over a pit of lava, or hurt them by throwing them into a pit of lava. So whether you do it to be helpful or hurtful is up to you.
- The much talked about “Demo Play” or “Kind Code” mode, which basically shows you how to complete a challenging part of the game, is now called the Super Guide. After losing a certain amount of lives, a green box will appear, which if selected will show you how to advance through the level.
- Many noticed during the E3 trailers for the game, that after dying, the screen froze to basically show you a friend had died. It seemed to really throw a wrench into a game otherwise showcasing a more fluid experience. Well luckily, Nintendo has removed that screen freeze.
- The game will also feature multiplayer modes, Free for All which is an attempt to get the highest score between you and your friends, and Coin Battle where you collect the most coins you can.
- When Yoshi eats a Hammer Bro, he will take on the hammer throwing ability.
- Although you have 5 lives each, if all players die at the same time, you must restart the level!
