JU-ON: The Grudge for Wii ships October 13

For you would-be Fatal Frame 4 fans still nursing their wounds, I’ve got something here that’ll take the edge off  a little bit. (Or at least til that fan translation comes through, am I right?)

Based on the original 2003 Japanese horror flick, JU-ON: The Grudge for Wii is a haunted house simulator to be released on the ominous October 13,  just in time for the Halloween season.

The official website is undeniably spooky, featuring a creepy, stringy-haired girl crawling towards the screen not unlike Samara from the American remake of The Ring. The game’s use of a flash light as your only weapon in the house of horror is also reminiscent of Fatal Frame‘s camera in Himuro Mansion. However, while many horror movies and video games borrow heavily from one another, it does not always necessarily affect the quality. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out.

For now though, I’m not going back to that website.

XSEED Games Announces October 13th Ship Date for JU-ON: The Grudge

Just in time for Halloween, XSEED Games has been holding a grudge on Wii™ owners and has vowed to make amends starting October 13th. JU-ON: The Grudge, a haunted house simulator developed by feelplus, immerses players in a number of mysterious and eerie locales shrouded in utter darkness.

Armed with only a flashlight, players’ safety depends on thorough exploration of cursed surroundings, including an abandoned warehouse and a decrepit hospital. Move quickly, because as your batteries drain and the darkness closes in around you, it becomes explicitly clear that something far more sinister than rats is lurking behind you.

JU-ON: The Grudge will start shipping to retailers across North America on October 13th, exclusively for Wii™
