Super Hardcore Mario Brothers 2

Ever wondered what it’d be like to listen to Nathan Explosion play Super Mario Brothers while on a three day crack binge? No? Well that’s too bad, ’cause I have the audio right here. Not that its actually Nathan Explosion, mind you, it just sounds an awful lot like him.

Warning: very NSFW. And coming from Tanooki’s resident potty mouth, that’s saying something. Ear muffs, Max, ear muffs!

  • We have the weirdest comment sections.
  • Understood, the video was a big pile of questionable references… My true point was that there isn't much space inside a thread of blog comments to really go into identity politics. :)

Toad may drop like a rock, but he's also quick as… a rock? Quick as a rock hurtling through space, about to blow up your dinosaurs. Quick like that kind of rock.

Holly: Yes, yes it does. Enjoy your new identity.

Brian: My identity crisis is based on the revelation that "everybody plays Toad" because "he gets all the bitches" (sic). This forced me into an introspective dilemma. Why don't I play Toad? Do not I, too, want to get all the bitches? Am I subconsciously forsaking bitch-getting? And what of my preference for playing as a pretty pretty princess in a frilly pink dress? Do I avoid Toad because I am intimidated by his bare-chested, item-lifting masculinity?

Christian: But Luigi has his own kind of flying, and I've always found Mario (or I suppose Toad) better for stuff that requires quick, accurate timing to jumps where I don't want to float accidentally.

In conclusion, I need to spend less time over at Nintendorks.
  • I believe I was 3 or 4 when I first played Super Mario Bros. 2. My thought process? Luigi jumped really high. Mario and Toad dropped like rocks. Peach could pretty much fly. Of course I played as Peach most of the time.
  • As queer culture has often embraced or otherwise had to deal with (by choice or by necessity) the questioning of gender roles, the disconnect between gender and sex, and the demolition of the dichotomy that is male and female, it's not necessarily a silly association. But unless the commenter was actually having a gender identity-related crisis, yes, the idea that such will 'make you gay' is fairly silly, and the very notion that such is a problem is also really quite silly.

But on a lighter note, Peach got the float. Pretty much everyone I know who isn't a seasoned gamer just trying to get through the damn thing uses slow, floaty Peach. Doki Doki Panic!!!
  • How would playing as a girl make anyone gay? Am I a lesbian because I recognize the advantages of playing Matthias over Jennifer Mui in Mercenaries 2? silly :P

    Then... we're both gay?
  • Peach got the float. Always seemed valuable to me.

Most of the time I went with Peach. Does that make me gay?

And I think "Super Happy Awesome Music" is the official name of that tune.
