Nintendo celebrates 120th birthday

When The Nintendo Playing Card Co. began in Kyoto, Japan in 1889, it’s safe to say that nobody could fathom the company would consistently develop some of the most innovative technology ever seen.  Nintendo began their career by selling hanafuda cards, a popular playing card that is actually featured as a reward for Club Nintendo participants.

120 years later and over two decades of being a leader in gaming, we shall take this day to salute Nintendo.  To 120 more years!

    They still make Hanafuda cards, and from what I’ve heard, they’re still great quality. I don’t think I’d ever be able to convince anyone to play a game that uses them with me, but they’re certainly beautiful…
