McDonalds and Square Enix team up to clog arteries/promote Dragon Quest IX

McDonalds and Square Enix have revealed plans to offer a downloadable DS minigame at McDonalds restaurants across Japan. Dragon Quest: McDonalds no Tabibito-tachi (McDonalds’ Travelers) involves battling monsters to level up. (What a novel concept!) The game caps at 10 levels and can only be played once daily. You’ll have to come back another day if you want to continue to build up your character. Of course, it just wouldn’t be a JRPG without random drops. Five plays (Whether you complete the game or not) wins you a free burger.

The promotion starts July 31st and runs through August to September 1st, only in Japan.

Why can’t they do something this cool somewhere else. I think Reggie hates us, that’s the only logical explanation for the nothing we get.

    I don’t know if that’s really a logical explanation. :P

Fine, NoA hates us. And I personally don’t like Reggie at all.

It could be McDonald’s fault, you know

I know a guy with proper connections at TRU, and they eventually sent some pokemon events to Canada. It’s not their fault, they apparently wanted to do so all along, but it’s Nintendo that never wanted to in the first place. McDonald’s has done stuff in Europe in the past, they distributed some pokemon events for Pokemon Day in Germany IIRC.
