When Japanese gamers get their hands on Dragon Quest IX in a few days, they’ll be playing a slightly smaller version than what was originally intended. The game is huge. So huge that some of the story had to be cut for space. Designer Yuji Horii talked about the part of development he hated the most:
That was when I had to cut and rework part of the story — not a large part compared to the rest of the plot, but one that had to be cut out anyway for space reasons.
In fact, the save file is pretty huge too. So huge, there’s only enough room for one save file and a backup. Just imagine what Square Enix will do when working with a dual-layered Wii DVD!
