If you missed out on Electroplankton when it originally released (and you probably did, since it was a pretty limited release), good news! Nintendo has decided to re-release the whole thing in ten parts via DSiWare in Japan. Each part will cost $2, for a total of $20 for the full game. That’s $20 less than the original cost. The release schedule is as follows:

  • July 8: Tracy, Hanenbon, Nanocarp, BeatNES,
  • July 22: Rec Rec, Lumiloop
  • August: Sun Animalcule, Luminarian, Marine Snow, Volvoice

No word on a North American release yet, but come on, you know it’s coming.

If I remember, the original was only available through Nintendo’s online store, or at least that’s how I got mine. Being what it is, it will probably do better as an assortment of DSiWare titles than as a stand-alone cartridge (or at least it will do better than the 37 different clock and calculator apps we’ll likely see).

Hm, I wonder what the prices will be like. I’d be concerned that buying each part would end up costing more than just buying Electroplankton.

    I knew I forgot something.

will they all be seperate apps or will they just be combined into one big app?

This is good news. I just hope it’s all combined into one app instead of 10 little ones. That could cause some clutter.

…the original cost was $39.99… I know, because it’s sitting right in front of me. :)
