Ubisoft knows that Red Steel wasn’t what it could have been. Other companies have managed to get first person shooting right on the Wii, the best of which being Retro Studios, the developer of Metroid Prime 3 (and 2 and 1). It’s probably a good sign that Ubisoft has asked Retro for help with Red Steel 2. According to the game’s creative director, Jason Vandenberghe:
We worked very closely with the guys over at Retro Studios, and the producer of Metroid Prime came to work with us and gave us a lot of insight into how they handled things.
Hopefully, this will lead to a much smoother and more accessible (not to mention fun) experience in Red Steel 2.
