The Tanooki’s Daily Recap – June 3, 2009

That artwork from Zelda Wii that was shown at the Miyamoto roundtable? Unfortunately, it’s been leaked. However, the photo was obtained unethically during the session, and thus like our colleagues in the professional blogosphere, we won’t be sharing it with you. Let me assure you, though, that’s it’s such a low resolution, it’s not worth seeking out. Just look at the Twilight Princess artwork above, imagine Link having put on a few more pounds for his upcoming role, and a shorter, Zora-like creature next to him. Let your mind wander for the next 12 months until it will undoubtedly be unveiling in full glory, worthy of the Zelda series.

Some of my favorite news bits from today were the discovery that the Koopalings (from games like Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World) are back in New Super Mario Bros. Wii the indication that Kingdom Hearts III could very well be Wii-bound. For those who follow the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, or those who follow the Castlevania series, or those that follow Hideo Kojima’s work… you might enjoy the fact that Konami’s press conference today confirmed that Kojima and his company, Kojima Productions, will be behind the now-confirmed Castlevania: Lord of Shadows for the PS3 and 360 in 2010.

Aside from that, we’re all just getting those show floor impressions now as this year’s E3 comes to a close tomorrow. Expect more details to come from those floor demos and various talks with developers and PR teams around the show, so be sure to check back throughout the day!

On the one hand, /slowclap for your show of ethics. On the other, it was probably Nintendo’s plan all along to have these photos leak out somewhere. Why else show something to the press but insist they can’t show it to anybody else? The cell phone snapshot was probably taken by Scooter Libbey.

But on that note, good for you for showing solidarity and not playing that kind of game.
