Oregon Trail for DSiWare “leaked”

oregontrailmain580

Gameloft sent an E3 invitation to various gaming news outlets listing a few of the games they’ll be showing off at the expo. Some websites seem to miss the request not to reveal any of those projects until E3. Most of those sites have since pulled the story, but they cannot escape my RSS reader. We here at The Tanooki don’t have an agreement like that with Gameloft, so we’re willing to post that a DSiWare version of Oregon Trail is in the works, and it may or may not be a port of the iPhone version (pictured). We’ll have more details once E3 rolls around next month.

That’ll teach ‘em to give you guys the short shrift in their NDA blasts!

About all I learned from this game is to never move west of the Mississippi River. From the Bad Old Days of PC gaming where the game was designed with saving every 5 s in mind. If only the Donner Party had saved every three feet, they could have reloaded and gotten a different result from the random events generator!

Now I’m in a mood for some King’s Quest. Or Space Quest.

ever since the forums have been down, I haven’t been able to whine and complain about how Majora’s Mask hasn’t been released on VC for NA yet … and now I might only have less than a week to do that!

    =(

will the forums be back up in time for me to complain any more???

    The forums are down?

And, more importantly, we have forums?

  • guppy06

Don’t worry, there are still plenty of unreleased games that aren’t on the VC’s horizon yet! There’s obviously EarthBound, there’s the first Phantasy Star, there’s the first Breath of Fire (expect the S-E tax on this one, even if all they did was publish it), there’s Rocket Knight Adventures, your choice of Castlevania games (Rondo of Blood for the TG, Bloodlines for the Genny, one of the N64 games), there’s still no Super FX games, they could bring over the MSX…

Or, if you always want to be assured of always having something missing, you can hold your breath for a Banjo or other Rare game, or anything with a movie license (I’m still surprised to see TMNT).

Also we are missing Mischief Makers, and yeah we did have forums right until bots flooded them.

The forums are currently clean, but we haven’t opened them for fear that the bots will automatically continue where we left off. We’re considering

1.) backing up what we have and opening them,
2.) flushing the content completely and starting fresh, or
3.) starting even fresher than #2 in a way I don’t wish to discuss yet.

Does option number 3 include a cleansing fire?

  • http://www.thetanooki.com Christian

    Most likely.

as long as there are some unreleased VC games, I guess it’ll make it easier for me to accept Majora’s Mask when it comes out this Monday.

    oops, am I making assumptions?

  • guppy06

I’m going to hold my breath until they release Mario Clash on the VC!
