Bit.Trip Beat’s saving system: It’s not a feature, it’s a bug!
North American owners of Bit.Trip Beat have been suffering from what appeared to be a weird game design choice since the launch of the game in March. It doesn’t save your progress unless you get a high score. The game is pretty tough and getting a high score can be even tougher. To cry enough tears of blood to unlock level 2, only to come back later to see you’re still stuck at level 1, is a Sisyphean task indeed.
That’s not the way things are supposed to be, though. The game is tough, but the folks over at Gaijin Games aren’t a bunch of jerks. The save bug was discovered too late for North America (Europe and Japan don’t have the same problem) but there is a way around it. If you didn’t decide to find one on your own weeks ago, Gaijin Games has released save files with levels 2 and 3 unlocked. All you need to use them is an SD card. Take a look at their official site, linked below, for the files, instructions, and an apology.
