Pokemon Sunday teases Gold & Silver remake

I keep telling people that there’s no real reason for Nintendo to devote time to a Pokemon Gold and Silver remake, given that it’s already possible to obtain all 492 (and soon 493) Pokemon on the fourth generation games. Then again, given that Nintendo has no need to rush out the successor to the DS nor the fifth generation of Pokemon games and that the DS would perfectly support the day/night system from the original games, it wouldn’t hurt for Nintendo to re-release a pair of guaranteed blockbusters.

It was announced this past Friday that Pokemon Sunday, a Pokemon variety show block airing each week, would reveal some world exclusive announcement on May 10th. Today’s show confirmed that there would be an announcement next week during the time usual spent talking about the video games, and the teaser has Pokemon Gold and Silver plastered all over it…or at least above it, in the form of gold and silver balls.

Plus, maybe it’d finally be a whole lot easier to obtain Celebi through a new DS event rather than having to import Japanese versions of Pokemon Colosseum or trust the legitimacy of 10ANIV events over Wi-Fi. I’m a fan of the time-traveling Pokemon, but it isn’t good enough to warrant that kind of effort to obtain.
