Apologies for quickly lifting the spirits of potential Skypers out there only to quickly rain on the VoIP parade, but it’s the sad truth. With Skype already having branched out to PSP and iPhone/Touch it seems very possible that the service would come to the DSi, especially with the inclusion of the SD card slot. A rep from Skype has even gone on record to say that “Whilst we can’t comment on any future plans to bring Skype to Nintendo’s DSi, it would technically be possible,” in a discussion with TechRadar.
Sadly, this may all be for naught. CVG did a little leg work (email style) and was told by Nintendo “We have no plans to release a Skype application for Nintendo DS or DSi.” Sad face. I was really hoping to put that internal camera to good use.
