Lego Rock Band is real for some reason

After months of rumors, Lego Rock Band was officially announced today. Aside from the obvious inclusion of Lego people instead of the usual realistic rockers, Lego Rock Band songs will lack any of the more questionable content that knock the other Rock Band games up to a T rating. The family friendly set list will include Song 2 by Blur, Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas, The Final Countdown by Europe, Boys and Girls by Good Charlotte, and So What by Pink.

Players won’t just be able to customize their band members, but also other people, such as roadies and managers. Lego Rock Band has been announced for all three current generation home consoles, and interestingly, also the DS. No specific details about the DS version have been announced other than the fact that it will be developed by Backbone Entertainment, who is also responsible for the upcoming PSP Rock Band, which will have gameplay similar to Harmonix’s PS2 cult classic Amplitude. Does this mean Lego Rock Band for DS will also feature Amplitude-style gameplay? That remains to be seen.
