New Punch-Out trailer shows off Giga Mac in multiplayer mode

The new Punch-Out!! trailer showing off the game’s split-screen multiplayer mode includes a little (or big) surprise. As Little Mac faces off against his own doppelganger, a power meter will charge, and when it’s full, it’s clobbering time. Little Mac can transform into the not-so-little Giga Mac. Giga Mac appears to be much stronger, but also much slower than Little Mac. In the trailer, he takes a decent chunk out of Little Mac’s energy bar, but it’s not quite enough for him to avoid getting creamed by a fighter one fifth his size. (Such is the way of Punch-Out.)

In other Punch-Out!! news, the latest issue of Game Informer reveals that Spanish and Canadian stereotypes Don Flamenco and Bear Hugger have made it into the game. Go Canada.

Because what would Punch-Out be without national stereotypes?

Anyway, now that they deliberately didn’t show it, I wonder what Giga Mac looks like on the other guy’s screen. The whole point of Little Mac being Little, was being able to see around him. So, do they just keep him transparent, or do they go all green wireframe?

Now there’s something they could put on the VC Arcade…

bear hugger better be wearing some lumberjack plaid, have some maple syrup, or have a pet beaver or else he’s not a true Canadian stereotype. Also, people seem to think we live in igloos. wtf
